In this role, you will work closely with young people aged 16 to 25 who are managing complex issues, including mental health needs, substance misuse, or experiences of domestic abuse. You'll deliver person-centred care designed to help service users build key life skills, understand their rights, and shape their own path forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Person-Centred Planning: Complete regular needs assessments, manage risk profiles, and deliver structured, goal-oriented support plans.
- Building Independence: Help young adults master tenancy management, personal budgeting, digital literacy, and access to education, employment, or training.
- Safeguarding & Advocacy: Promote client self-advocacy, safeguard vulnerable individuals, and work closely with healthcare, legal, and community agencies.
- Team & Service Collaboration: Lead structured shift handovers, engage in multi-agency working, and maintain clear, accurate case notes.
- Positive Outcomes: Assist young people with emotional wellbeing, practical life skills, and positive parenting skills where relevant.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Criteria:
- Experience: Demonstrated background supporting vulnerable individuals dealing with complex needs (such as trauma, substance use, or mental health challenges).
- Skills: Excellent communication, de-escalation, and teamwork skills, with sound basic IT skills (MS Office / Teams).
- Knowledge: Clear understanding of safeguarding procedures, GDPR compliance, and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a varied shift pattern including mornings, evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
- Requirements: Solid standard of general education, full UK driving licence, and access to a car for business travel.
Desirable Criteria:
- Level 3 NVQ/QCF (or equivalent) in Social Care, Housing, Youth Work, or a related discipline.
- Training in trauma-informed care, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), mental health awareness, or substance misuse.
- Familiarity with the Housing Support Grant (HSG) framework, welfare benefits, and tenancy sustainment strategies.
Why Apply?
Join a supportive, values-driven environment that prioritises fairness, staff growth, and meaningful outcomes. You'll benefit from regular supervision, reflective practice sessions, and continuous professional development including the opportunity to complete formal care and housing qualifications within your first 18 months.
