These terms are between you (the jobseeker) and yournextjob. They apply whenever you search, save a job, create an account, upload a CV or apply for a role. Read them alongside our terms of use, acceptable use policy and privacy policy, which explains in full how we look after your data.
Free to use
yournextjob is completely free for jobseekers. Searching, saving jobs, using swipe to apply, setting up job alerts, uploading a CV and applying for roles are all free. We will never charge you to find or apply for work, and any advert on the site that asks you to pay a fee to apply breaks our rules. If you ever see one, please report it.
Your account
- You can browse and apply without an account, but an account lets you save jobs, reuse your CV and track applications.
- Give accurate, truthful and up-to-date information in your account, profile and applications. Employers make decisions based on what you tell them.
- Only upload details and a CV that are genuinely yours to share.
- Keep your login secure and do not let anyone else use your account.
- You should be legally able to work in the UK, and the site is not intended for children under 16.
Your CV and what happens to it
When you upload a CV, we store it so you can reuse it across applications without uploading it every time. We may read the text of your CV to pre-fill parts of an application and to suggest roles that fit, but this is to help you, not to make decisions about you.
Your CV is not published publicly, and it is not sold or handed to employers you have not chosen. It is shared in two situations only: when you apply for a role (it goes to that employer), and, if you opt in, when an employer finds your profile in the talent database and you reply to them. You can update or delete your CV at any time from your account.
The talent database (opt-in)
The talent database lets employers search for candidates and reach out about roles. It is off by default and only ever works if you turn it on.
- Opting in. When you make your profile visible, you opt in to being found by employers who are searching for candidates. In plain terms, a visible profile is one you have chosen to share for this purpose.
- What employers see first. While your profile is visible, employers searching the database can see your headline, skills, location, availability and CV details so they can decide whether to get in touch. They do not get your direct contact details up front.
- Contact details stay locked. Your email address and phone number are only revealed to an employer if and when you reply to a message they send you. If you ignore a message, your contact details stay private. You are always the one who decides to open a conversation.
- Turning it off. You can make your profile invisible again at any time from your account. Once it is off, you stop appearing in new searches. Employers you have already replied to may still hold the details you shared with them, and their use of that data is covered by their own privacy notice.
Applying for jobs
When you apply for a role, we pass your application, including your name, contact details, CV and any cover note or answers, to the specific employer or advertiser behind that role. That is the whole point of applying, and it only happens for the roles you choose. From that point the employer is responsible for your data as an independent controller, and their own privacy notice applies to how they use it.
Many roles are advertised by third-party employers and recruiters, and some listings are gathered from other sites and link out to the employer's own application page. yournextjob is a listings platform, not the employer, and we do not take part in the hiring decision. Any interview, offer, contract or dispute is between you and the employer.
How to behave
To keep the site useful and safe for everyone, you agree not to:
- give false information, impersonate someone else, or apply on another person's behalf without their consent;
- upload anything unlawful, offensive, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- scrape, copy or harvest data from the site, or try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to it;
- send spam, malware or abusive messages to employers through the platform;
- misuse the messaging or application tools, for example to advertise, solicit or harass.
The full list is in our acceptable use policy. Breaking these rules can lead to your account being suspended or closed.
No guarantee of a job
We give you the tools to find and apply for work, but we cannot promise an outcome. We do not guarantee that you will be shortlisted, interviewed, offered or hired, that an employer will reply, or that any listing is still open or accurate. Where a listing comes from another site, we label it and link to the source, and that source is responsible for its content. Any matching or suggestions we show are there to help you find relevant roles, and they never automatically reject you from a job.
Closing your account
You can close your account and ask us to delete your data at any time, from your account settings or by contacting us. We will delete your data unless we have a legal reason to keep some of it, as explained in the privacy policy. Employers you have already applied to or replied to may keep the details you shared with them, under their own responsibilities.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date above, and for significant changes we will make it clear on the site.
