Acceptable use policy

The line between fair use and misuse. This policy applies to everyone who uses yournextjob, whether you are looking for work, advertising a job, or just browsing.

Last updated: 10 July 2026

This acceptable use policy sets out what you may and may not do on yournextjob. It forms part of our terms of use, and it works alongside the jobseeker terms and the employer and advertiser terms. By using the site you agree to follow it.

Who this applies to

It applies to every visitor and every account, including jobseekers, employers, recruiters and anyone accessing the site or its data by any means. It covers everything you post, upload, send or do on the platform, including adverts, applications, profiles, messages and file uploads.

Prohibited content

Do not post, upload or share anything that:

  • is unlawful, or promotes unlawful activity;
  • is false, misleading or fraudulent, including fake vacancies, bait adverts posted only to collect CVs, or advance-fee and "pay to start" job scams;
  • discriminates unlawfully, or incites hatred or violence against any group or person;
  • is defamatory, harassing, threatening, obscene, or sexually explicit;
  • infringes anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights, including posting someone else's content or personal data without the right to do so;
  • contains a virus, malware, or any code designed to harm, disable or gain unauthorised access to a system;
  • asks a jobseeker to pay a fee to apply for, be considered for, or start a job.

Prohibited conduct

Do not:

  • impersonate another person or organisation, or misrepresent who you are or your connection with anyone;
  • send spam or bulk unsolicited messages, or use the messaging and application tools to advertise, solicit or recruit for anything other than the role in question;
  • harvest, collect or store other users' personal data, including candidate contact details, beyond what is needed for a genuine application or role you are recruiting for;
  • create fake accounts, adverts, applications, reviews or engagement, or manipulate rankings, click or application counts;
  • apply on someone else's behalf without their consent, or submit applications you have no genuine intention behind;
  • use the site to defraud, phish, or trick jobseekers or employers into handing over money, credentials or personal data.

Data and scraping

The listings, profiles and content on yournextjob are provided for people to search and apply for work, not for bulk extraction. You must not:

  • scrape, crawl, spider, or use automated means to copy, index or harvest content or data from the site, except a search engine indexing public pages in the ordinary way, and only where we have not blocked it;
  • copy, republish, resell or redistribute our listings, database or content, in whole or in part, without our written permission;
  • build or train a competing product, dataset or model from our content or data;
  • collect candidate data from the talent database or applications for any purpose other than filling the specific role, or add people to marketing lists without a lawful basis.

Security and integrity

Do not:

  • probe, scan or test the security of the site, or breach or bypass any security or access control, without our written permission;
  • access accounts, data or areas you are not authorised to use;
  • interfere with, overload or disrupt the site, its servers or networks, including through denial-of-service attempts or excessive automated requests;
  • get around rate limits, filters, or any measure we use to protect the platform.

Reporting misuse

If you see an advert, message, profile or behaviour that breaks this policy, please tell us at hello@yournextjob.co.uk or through our contact page. Reports about suspected job scams and fee-charging adverts are especially welcome, and we act on them quickly.

Consequences of breaking this policy

Where we believe this policy has been broken, we may take any action we think is appropriate, including:

  • removing, editing or relabelling content;
  • issuing a warning;
  • limiting, suspending or permanently closing an account;
  • blocking access, including by IP address, and pausing or refusing adverts or campaigns;
  • reporting the matter to the police or another authority, and cooperating with them;
  • taking legal action to recover losses caused by the breach.

We decide what action is appropriate case by case, and we may act without notice where it is needed to protect users or the site. This policy does not limit any other rights or remedies we have under the terms of use or the law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date above.
