Employer and advertiser terms

The terms for advertising jobs on yournextjob. They cover what you can post, how our free and sponsored advertising works, billing and your responsibilities for the applicant data you receive.

Last updated: 10 July 2026

These terms are between you (the employer, recruiter or advertiser) and yournextjob. They apply whenever you create an employer account, post a vacancy, or run a sponsored campaign. Read them alongside our terms of use, acceptable use policy, privacy policy and the data processing summary. Where these employer terms and the general terms of use differ, these employer terms apply to your advertising.

Who these terms are for

You may advertise on yournextjob if you are a business, an organisation, or a recruiter acting for one, and you are recruiting for genuine roles. By posting you confirm you are authorised to act for the organisation named on the advert and that everything you post is accurate and lawful. yournextjob is a listings platform, not an employment agency, an employment business, or the employer for any role advertised here. Any hiring decision, contract or dispute is strictly between you and the applicant.

Your account

  • Give accurate company and contact details, and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your login secure and do not share it. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
  • Only people authorised by your organisation may use the account.
  • Tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.

Posting rules

Every advert you post must:

  • describe a real, current vacancy that you are actively recruiting for;
  • be accurate, clear and not misleading, including an honest description of the role, location and working pattern;
  • state pay honestly. If you show a rate or salary it must be genuine, and you must not advertise a headline figure you do not intend to pay or that depends on undisclosed conditions;
  • comply with the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 and all other applicable employment, advertising and equality law;
  • make clear who the employer is, or that the role is advertised by a recruiter on a client's behalf;
  • place applicant data you receive under lawful handling, in line with the UK GDPR and the data processing summary.

You keep ownership of your advert content, but you grant us a licence to host, display, format, index and distribute it so we can run the service, including showing it in search, on category and location pages, in the swipe feed, in job alert emails and on partner surfaces that syndicate our listings.

Prohibited listings

You must not post a listing that:

  • charges a work-seeker a fee to apply, to be considered, or to start work. Roles that ask candidates to pay for training, equipment, admin, a DBS check or a "starter pack" as a condition of applying are not allowed;
  • discriminates unlawfully, for example on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation;
  • is misleading about pay, hours, the nature of the work, or whether a role exists at all, including bait adverts posted only to collect CVs;
  • promotes a pyramid scheme, an unpaid "commission only" role dressed up as employment without saying so, a multi-level marketing recruitment drive, or an adult-services role;
  • is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or infringes anyone's rights;
  • advertises on behalf of a third party without their authority, or uses another organisation's name or brand without permission.

We may refuse, edit, relabel, or remove any listing that breaks these rules, and we are never obliged to publish an advert.

Our advertising model

Posting a job is free, and free adverts appear in search and across the site. Sponsored campaigns are an optional way to buy extra reach for a role.

Sponsored campaigns are performance priced from a prepaid wallet. Rather than a fixed daily charge, we bill a blended rate made up of clicks and applications:

Indicative sponsored pricing. Actual rates vary with role, location and demand.
What you pay for Typical rate Notes
Cost per click (CPC) 2p to 8p per click Charged when a jobseeker opens your sponsored advert. Priced by quality and competition for the role.
Cost per application (CPA) 50p to £1 per application Charged when a jobseeker completes an application to your sponsored advert.
Minimum spend From about £10 per advert The smallest budget we will run a sponsored advert on.

How the model works in practice:

  • Blended and quality priced. Rates sit inside the ranges above based on the role, location, and how much competition there is for candidates. A clear, well-paid, in-demand role is cheaper to promote than a vague or hard-to-fill one.
  • Paced delivery. Unless you choose otherwise, we spread a campaign's budget evenly over about 30 days so it does not spend out in a day. You can pause a live campaign at any time.
  • You only pay for real activity. We charge for genuine clicks and applications. We use filtering to screen out obvious invalid, duplicate or bot activity, and we do not knowingly charge for it.
  • No lock-in. Sponsoring a role never changes the honest relevance ranking to pretend a job is a better match than it is. Sponsored placements are labelled.

All figures on this page are quoted excluding VAT unless stated otherwise, and VAT is added where it applies. All money is handled in pounds sterling.

Wallet, billing and refunds

  • Prepaid wallet. Sponsored campaigns run from a prepaid balance. You top the wallet up in advance, and campaign charges are drawn from it as clicks and applications happen.
  • Top-ups. Payments are taken securely through our payment processor. We receive a record of each payment so we can credit your wallet and issue a receipt, but we never see or store your full card number.
  • Statements. Your account shows your wallet balance and a running record of what each campaign has spent, so you can reconcile charges.
  • Unspent balance. Money you have topped up but not yet spent stays in your wallet for future campaigns. You can ask us to refund a genuine unspent balance, and we will return it to the original payment method where we can, less any payment-processing fees we cannot recover.
  • Spent budget. Because a sponsored advert is delivered as clicks and applications happen, amounts already spent on delivery are generally non-refundable, except where the law gives you a right to a refund, where activity was wrongly charged, or where we have made a mistake. If we get a charge wrong, tell us within 30 days and we will investigate and credit your wallet for anything charged in error.
  • Failed or reversed payments. If a payment is reversed, charged back or fails after a campaign has run, we may pause your campaigns and recover the amount owed from a later top-up.

Nothing in this section affects any statutory rights you have as a business customer.

Applicant data and your role

When someone applies to your advert, we pass you their application, which can include their name, contact details, CV, cover note and any screening answers. The moment you receive that data, you become the data controller for it. You decide how you use it, and you are responsible for handling it lawfully under the UK GDPR, including giving applicants privacy information, keeping the data secure, honouring their rights and not keeping it longer than you need.

For the parts of the service where we handle applicant data on your instructions, for example storing applications in your dashboard and messaging candidates through the platform, we act as your data processor. The data processing summary sets out that relationship, our security measures, our sub-processors and how we handle breaches and data-subject requests, and it forms part of these terms.

You must not use applicant data for anything other than considering that person for the role they applied to, or another live role with genuine consent. You must not add applicants to marketing lists, sell their data, or pass it on without a lawful basis.

Verification and moderation

We may verify your identity and your right to advertise, including checking company details, contacting you, or asking for proof before or after an advert goes live. We moderate listings before and after publication, and we may edit, relabel, pause, refuse or remove any advert, at our discretion, that we believe breaks these terms, the acceptable use policy or the law, or that risks harm to jobseekers. Moderation is not a guarantee that a listing is lawful or accurate, and it does not transfer your responsibility for your adverts to us.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close your account, pause or remove your adverts, or hold or stop campaigns, if we believe these terms have been broken, if it is needed to protect jobseekers or the site, or where the law requires it. Where it is fair and safe to do so, we will tell you why. If we close your account for a breach, we may withhold delivery already run; we will refund a genuine unspent wallet balance unless we are investigating fraud or a chargeback. You can close your account at any time by contacting us; sections that by their nature should survive, such as those on data, liability and governing law, continue to apply.

Liability

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee a number of clicks, applications, or hires, that any campaign will fill a role, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss, or for the acts of any applicant. Where we are liable to you in connection with the service, our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for sponsored advertising in that period. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited by law.

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from your adverts, your use of applicant data, or your breach of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date above, and for significant changes we will make it clear on the site. Continuing to advertise after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
