This statement explains how accessible the site is, what we have done, where we know there is room to improve, and how to tell us about a problem.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This is the standard widely used across the UK for accessible websites. We build accessibility in as we develop the site, rather than treating it as an afterthought, and we test new features against it.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML: pages use proper headings, landmarks and structure so screen readers can make sense of them.
- Keyboard navigation: you can move through and use the whole site with a keyboard alone, without needing a mouse.
- Colour contrast: we design text and controls to meet the AA contrast requirements against their background.
- Responsive and mobile-friendly: the layout adapts to phones, tablets and desktops, and stays usable when you zoom in.
- Skip link: a "skip to content" link lets keyboard and screen reader users jump straight past the navigation.
- Clear labels: form fields and icon-only buttons carry labels so their purpose is announced by assistive technology.
- Visible focus: a clear focus ring shows keyboard users where they are on the page.
- Reduced-motion support: if your device is set to reduce motion, we respect that and cut down non-essential animation.
Swipe to apply
Swipe to apply is designed to be used without gestures. Every action has a clearly labelled button (skip, save and apply), and you can drive the whole deck with the keyboard using the left, right and up arrow keys. If your device is set to reduce motion, cards fade rather than animate. You never have to swipe to use the feature.
Known limitations
Job listings are created by employers and advertisers, or gathered from other sites, rather than written by us. That means the wording, formatting and any images within a listing can vary in quality and may not always meet the same accessibility standard as the rest of the site. We moderate listings, but we cannot guarantee that every piece of listing content is fully accessible. If a specific listing causes you difficulty, please let us know and we will help.
Reporting an accessibility problem
If you find something on the site that is hard to use or that you cannot access, please tell us. Email hello@yournextjob.co.uk with a description of the problem, the page it is on, and the device or assistive technology you were using if you can. This really helps us fix things. We aim to respond within five working days.
