About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND English Teacher to join their specialist education provision in Taunton.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), delivering engaging English lessons within a supportive and therapeutic learning environment.

The school provides education for pupils with a range of additional needs, including complex learning needs, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and behaviours that may challenge. With high staff-to-pupil ratios, personalised learning programmes, and small class sizes, the focus is on enabling every learner to achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As a SEND English Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inclusive English lessons that meet the individual needs of your pupils.

Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, you will create personalised learning pathways that build confidence, develop literacy skills, and encourage pupils to become independent learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Differentiate teaching to support a wide range of abilities and learning styles.
• Create personalised learning plans that promote progress and achievement.
• Support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs to engage positively in education.
• Encourage independence, confidence and social development.
• Prepare teaching resources and ensure the safe use of classroom equipment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to reviews and assessments.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEND.
• Minimum of two years’ experience working within a SEND school, specialist provision or similar educational setting.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Commitment to providing a nurturing, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
