About the RolePeterborough City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join its Children in Care (CIC) Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Social Worker with at least one year's post-qualified experience who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people in care.You will manage a varied caseload involving children in care, young people, families, foster carers, and partner agencies to deliver effective interventions that promote safety, permanence, and positive futures.Location: Sand Martin House, Bittern Way, PE2 8TYRate: £39.00 per hour (Umbrella rate) Contract: TemporaryHours: 37 hours per weekOffice Requirements: 2/3 days office basedKey ResponsibilitiesManage a Children in Care caseload, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.Build strong relationships with children, young people, families, and carers to promote participation and positive outcomes.Undertake assessments and develop effective care plans in line with statutory requirements and local procedures.Complete and review pathway plans, permanence plans, and care plans.Assess and manage risk, making sound professional decisions to safeguard children and young people.Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, foster carers, residential providers, and partner agencies.Attend and contribute to statutory reviews, planning meetings, and court processes where required.Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case recordings and reports.Plan, implement, and review interventions designed to promote independence, stability, and positive change.Manage workload effectively and make proactive use of supervision to support professional development and reflective practice.Work within current legislation, statutory guidance, and Peterborough City Council policies and procedures.About YouQualified Social WorkerSocial Work England registration.A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.Recent and substantial Children in Care (CIC) experience.Experience undertaking assessments, care planning, risk management, and multi-agency working.Strong report writing and case recording skills.If you are an experienced Children in Care Social Worker looking for your next contract opportunity with Peterborough City Council, we'd love to hear from you.This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
