About the role

The University of Birmingham School is looking to recruit a talented Physical Education teacher to join our PE department, to teach mixed gender, mixed ability physical education.

The post involves the supervision of female pupils in changing areas before and after PE lessons. Due to the need to preserve pupils’ privacy, there is a occupational requirement for the postholder to be female.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher, committed to raising student outcomes and using creativity and initiative to support the further development of Physical Education in the School, whilst also demonstrating commitment to inclusion and the well-being of every young person.

We are proud to welcome 11-19 year olds from all across Birmingham through our doors to be part of our state-of-the-art school, and give them the opportunity to develop great character and achieve academic success in a thriving community.

We will have high expectations of you to be an outstanding role model committed to the distinctive ethos of our School. In return, we can offer:

Professional Development: We are committed to your growth. You will benefit from ongoing professional development, with additional training days to enhance your teaching pedagogy

Research & Development: Enjoy 3 dedicated days per year to focus on your own research or professional development.

World-Class Resources & Partnerships: Access cutting-edge resources, research, and professional networks through our collaboration with the University of Birmingham.

Support for ECTs: If you are an Early Career Teacher, you'll receive excellent support and guidance to ensure a successful start to your career

Enrichment Opportunities: Be involved in our exciting timetabled enrichment programme, making a meaningful impact beyond the classroom.

Visits to the school are welcome. To arrange, please contact Katie Tennant on [phone removed].

Please note that we will not consider applications via CV.

The University of Birmingham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.

The successful candidate will be subject to all necessary pre-employment checks including: enhanced DBS; Prohibition Check; qualifications; medical fitness; identity and right to work.

All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references. If you are currently working in a school setting, please ensure that your references include your current Head Teacher.

An online search will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short-listed candidates.
