The Programme
We are currently preparing for a proposed NHS Paediatric Cardiology insourcing programme in North West England, designed to provide additional outpatient capacity within an established paediatric service.
Subject to final approval, we are seeking an experienced Consultant Paediatrician with appropriate Paediatric Cardiology expertise to support regular planned clinical activity from approximately October 2026 to March 2027.
The programme is intended to increase outpatient capacity, support existing services and improve patient access across the Paediatric Cardiology pathway.

What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver Consultant-led Paediatric Cardiology outpatient clinics within a structured insourced service model
- Assess and manage general Paediatric Cardiology referrals, including heart murmurs, chest pain, incidental cardiac findings and other common cardiac presentations
- Undertake and interpret appropriate cardiac investigations within your scope of competence
- Interpret paediatric ECGs and incorporate findings into clinical assessment and management planning
- Undertake and/or interpret paediatric echocardiography where appropriately trained and competent
- Develop appropriate treatment, investigation, follow-up and ongoing management plans
- Identify children requiring further investigation or onward referral to tertiary Paediatric Cardiology services
- Work to agreed local clinical pathways, governance requirements and escalation procedures
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
- Work collaboratively with paediatric nursing colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective delivery
What We're Looking For
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Appropriate Consultant-level experience within Paediatric Cardiology
- Relevant UK paediatric clinical experience
- Demonstrable experience assessing and managing general Paediatric Cardiology presentations
- Competence in paediatric ECG interpretation
- Relevant experience and competence in paediatric echocardiography is particularly desirable for this programme
- Ability to recognise patients requiring further investigation, follow-up or tertiary specialist referral
- Ability to work autonomously within a Consultant-led outpatient environment
- Ability to work within structured, session-based clinical delivery models
- Strong multidisciplinary working, communication and professional standards
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)
- Ability to provide regular availability across the proposed programme
