The Programme

We are currently supporting workforce planning for an anticipated NHS Paediatric Allergy insourcing programme, designed to increase outpatient capacity within an established secondary-care allergy pathway.

You will be part of a structured, consultant-led service model, working alongside experienced clinicians to support increased patient access while contributing to a safe, coordinated and well-governed outpatient service.

The programme is expected to support children aged 15 years and under presenting with a range of common paediatric allergy conditions, including food allergy, urticaria, angioedema, allergic rhinitis and anaphylaxis.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support consultant-led Paediatric Allergy outpatient clinics within a structured insourced service model
  • Undertake skin prick testing where appropriately trained and competent
  • Assist with the assessment and ongoing management of children attending allergy clinics
  • Support the development and delivery of allergy action plans
  • Provide education to children and families on adrenaline auto-injectors (EpiPen) and allergy management
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis in accordance with local protocols
  • Undertake paediatric blood sampling/phlebotomy where competent
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and work within agreed governance, safeguarding and escalation procedures
  • Work collaboratively with Consultant Paediatricians and the wider multidisciplinary team to support safe, effective outpatient delivery

What We're Looking For

  • Active NMC registration as a Registered Children's Nurse
  • Recent UK paediatric nursing experience
  • Experience within paediatric allergy, paediatric outpatient services or another relevant specialist paediatric setting
  • Ability to work within a structured, session-based clinical delivery model
  • Strong communication, MDT working and professional standards
  • Appropriate paediatric safeguarding and escalation competencies
  • Up-to-date paediatric life support training
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)

  • Skin prick testing
  • Paediatric Allergy outpatient clinics
  • Recognition and management of anaphylaxis
  • Allergy action plans
  • Adrenaline auto-injector (EpiPen) education
