The Programme
We are currently supporting workforce planning for an anticipated NHS Paediatric Cardiology insourcing programme, designed to increase outpatient capacity within an established paediatric cardiology service.
You will be part of a structured, consultant-led service model, working alongside experienced Consultant Paediatricians and the existing cardiorespiratory team to support increased patient access while contributing to a safe, coordinated and well-governed outpatient service.
The programme is expected to support children referred with a broad range of general paediatric cardiology presentations, including heart murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, syncope, dizziness, POTS assessments and family history or genetic syndrome screening.

What You'll Be Doing
- Support consultant-led Paediatric Cardiology outpatient clinics within a structured insourced service model
- Support the established cardiac investigation pathway, including paediatric ECGs and blood investigations/phlebotomy where appropriately trained and competent
- Undertake clinical observations and escalate concerns in accordance with local pathways and governance procedures
- Support children and their families throughout outpatient appointments and associated cardiac investigations
- Recognise and appropriately escalate signs of the deteriorating child
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation while working within agreed governance, safeguarding and escalation procedures
- Collaborate closely with Consultant Paediatricians, the cardiorespiratory team and the wider multidisciplinary team to support safe, effective outpatient delivery
- Contribute to efficient patient flow and the consistent delivery of planned outpatient activity
What We're Looking For
- Active NMC registration as a Registered Children's Nurse
- Recent UK paediatric nursing experience
- Experience within paediatric cardiology, paediatric cardiac services, paediatric outpatient services or another relevant specialist paediatric setting
- Ability to work within a structured, session-based clinical delivery model
- Strong communication, MDT working and professional standards
- Appropriate paediatric safeguarding and escalation competencies
- Up-to-date paediatric life support training
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)
Particularly desirable
Experience or competency in:
- Paediatric ECG recording
- Paediatric phlebotomy
- Supporting paediatric cardiology outpatient clinics
- Supporting children undergoing cardiac investigations
- Strong clinical assessment, observation and escalation skills
- Working within specialist paediatric cardiac or cardiorespiratory services
