About the role
Applications are invited from Home and International students for several fully funded PhD studentships starting on 01/10/2027.
Funded by the EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Award at the University of Nottingham, these studentships provide an opportunity to undertake ambitious, challenging and rewarding research in a vibrant academic environment.
The topics for the studentships are open, but your research proposal should relate to the interests of one of the School’s research groups:
Cyber-physical Health and Assistive Robotics Technologies
Computational Optimisation and Learning Lab
Intelligent Modelling and Analysis
Lab for Uncertainty in Data and Decision Making
Visualisation and Computer Graphics
The studentships available are fully funded for 3.5 years and include a minimum stipend of £21,805 per year in addition to tuition fees. (This figure is for 26/27. The amount for 27/28 will be updated by UKRI in due course)
Entry Requirements:
Applicants are normally expected to have a 2:1 Bachelor or Master’s degree (or international equivalent) in a related discipline. Any offer will be subject to the University admissions requirements. An IELTS score of 6.5 (with 6.0 in each element) or another English Language qualification is also required for candidates who do not have English as a first language.
Application Process:
Applications to be informally made direct to the division/supervisor first.
Post interview, application to be made through the MyNottingham system stating the supervisor’s name and project title.
Please check your eligibility against the entry requirements prior to proceeding.
If you are interested in applying, please contact potential supervisors to discuss your research proposal.
If the supervisor wishes to support your application post interview, they will direct you to make an official application through the MyNottingham system. You will be required to state the name of your supervisor and the studentship reference number in your application. We require you to submit a CV, research proposal and transcripts from your previous study when you submit documents for the application.
Do not submit your application via the My Nottingham platform without having confirmed support of a supervisor first.
