Weeke is a vibrant school in the heart of the community and we are looking for someone who wants to make a real difference to children's lives.
Job/Person Summary
Children are at the heart of what we do at Weeke Primary School. Weeke is a vibrant and popular school where children enjoy a rich and diverse range of experiences and achieve well in a caring and respectful environment.
We are seeking to appoint an excellent, committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inclusion and ensuring all children can thrive. The successful candidate will have significant experience working with children with complex needs and be able to support and contribute to our high expectations of learning, achievement and belonging for all pupils.
Your main role will be working under the guidance of the Assistant Headteacher (SENDCo) and class teachers to plan, organise and deliver high-quality learning opportunities for children working significantly below age-related expectations. This will include delivering bespoke 1:1 and small-group provision, adapting learning to meet individual needs and supporting children to successfully access school life and learning. The role may also involve providing cover for classes for both PPA and in the event of staff absence.
The role requires someone with strong curriculum knowledge, creativity and flexibility, who can develop and deliver alternative curriculum pathways which meet individual needs whilst maintaining ambitious expectations for every child.
As our HLTA for Inclusion and SEND you will:
- Plan, organise and deliver high-quality learning opportunities for individuals and small groups identified by the SENDCo and class teachers.
- Support our most vulnerable children and lead personalised provision for children with complex SEND.
- Develop and deliver alternative curriculum experiences for children working significantly below their peers.
- Adapt learning opportunities to ensure children can access learning, develop independence and experience success.
- Work closely with teaching staff, families and external professionals to provide the best possible outcomes for children.
- Monitor, assess and report on children's progress and contribute to review meetings and provision planning.
- Promote inclusion, belonging, positive relationships and successful participation in school life.
- Be adaptable to the needs of the school and provide cover for teachers where necessary.
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
The Successful Candidate Will:
- Enthuse and inspire children to learn.
- Have substantial experience of working with children with complex SEND and additional needs.
- Have a good understanding of child development and learning.
- Have a secure understanding of the primary curriculum and how it can be adapted to meet a wide range of needs.
- Be able to plan and deliver personalised learning programmes for children working significantly below age-related expectations.
- Be committed to working with children, responding to their needs intuitively and sensitively.
- Have high expectations and a calm, positive attitude.
- Be an excellent team player and be able to work independently and with initiative.
- Be prepared to share expertise and learn from others.
- Be professional, organised, patient and understanding.
