Veritas Education are working with a number of specialist SEN schools and provisions across Leeds and the surrounding areas who are looking for dedicated PMLD Support Assistants to join their teams.

The Role:
As a PMLD Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, care teams and other professionals to provide tailored educational and personal care support to pupils with complex needs.
Your responsibilities may include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
Supporting children and young people with complex physical, sensory, communication and learning needs.
Assisting with personal care, hygiene, feeding and daily living activities where required.
Supporting pupils with mobility, positioning and physical development, following individual care plans and guidance.
Delivering sensory-based activities and engaging learning opportunities to encourage communication and interaction.
Supporting pupils to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.
Working collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, healthcare professionals and other support staff.
Maintaining a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
Previous experience supporting individuals with PMLD, complex needs, severe learning disabilities or additional physical needs is desirable.
Experience within a care, support worker or healthcare background is welcomed.
Confidence and willingness to provide personal care and hygiene support.
A patient, compassionate and resilient approach to supporting children and young people.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications.
Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory (we can help advise on this).
Commitment to completing all relevant recruitment and safeguarding checks.
Desirable:
Specialist training or qualifications, including Team Teach, Safeguarding, Manual Handling, Moving and Handling or relevant care qualifications.
Experience supporting individuals with sensory impairments, physical disabilities or complex medical needs.
