About the Opportunity Wolviston Management Services are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer on behalf of a leading organisation based in Middlesbrough.This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering team, where you will play a key role in supporting and developing electrical and automation systems within a industrial manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, major maintenance initiatives, and continuous improvement activities across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide electrical and automation engineering support to site operations.
- Manage and deliver CAPEX and major maintenance projects from conception through to completion.
- Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis of significant equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
- Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure the successful introduction of new equipment, technologies, and process improvements.
- Develop technical specifications for equipment, products, and engineering services.
- Manage external contractors and suppliers, including contract administration, site supervision, change management, and claims resolution.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
You will ideally possess:
- A Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent qualification).
- Previous experience within a heavy industrial engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical installations.
- Experience with Siemens S5/S7 PLC programming and communications systems.
- Proven fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Knowledge of closed-loop control systems, PID control, and Siemens AC/DC drives.
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and project delivery activities.
- The ability to write clear and detailed technical specifications.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and engineering standards.
- APM, PRINCE2, or similar project management qualifications.
