About the role
Have you worked with diesel generators?
Would you enjoy the opportunity to travel across the UK and Europe?
Are you electrically or mechanically biased, but keen to develop your skills across both disciplines?
If so, this could be an excellent opportunity to join a growing business operating within the critical power and power generation sector.
Our client is looking for a motivated Service Technician to join their expanding team. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone with either an electrical or mechanical background who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving and working directly with customers.
You'll be working on diesel generators ranging from 30kVA to 220kVA, supporting customers across the UK and Europe, with the opportunity to get involved in installations, commissioning and offshore projects.
The RoleAs a Service Technician, you'll be responsible for keeping customers' power generation equipment operating safely and reliably.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, maintaining and inspecting diesel generators from 30kVA to 220kVA
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults
- Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance
- Supporting installation, commissioning and operational activities
- Attending customer sites across the UK and Europe
- Travelling internationally and working away from home when required
- Supporting offshore projects where required
- Providing a professional and customer-focused service on site
- Completing service reports and maintaining accurate documentation
- Working safely and consistently to company and industry standards
- Developing your knowledge across both electrical and mechanical systems
We're interested in people with a strong electrical or mechanical engineering background who are keen to broaden their technical skill set.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience working with diesel generators / generator sets
- A strong electrical or mechanical engineering background
- Experience with fault-finding, diagnostics and repairs
- The ability and willingness to develop your skills in the other discipline
- A full UK driving licence
- A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving
- The confidence to work independently at customer sites
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to travel throughout the UK and internationally
- The ability to work away from home, sometimes at short notice
Generator experience is highly desirable, but we're also interested in technically strong electrical or mechanical engineers who are keen to specialise in power generation and be fully supported with further training.
Salary, Overtime & Development- Up to £35,000 for an experienced Service Technician
- Up to £40,000 for candidates with previous managerial / supervisory experience
- Overtime available to significantly boost your earnings
- Ongoing technical training and development
- Support towards additional qualifications and certifications
- Exposure to a wide range of equipment and technical projects
- UK, European and offshore travel opportunities
- Long-term career progression within a growing business
This isn't a role where you'll be doing the same thing every day.
You'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of generator equipment, visit different customer sites, travel internationally and develop your expertise across both mechanical and electrical engineering.
With overtime available, there is also a genuine opportunity for motivated engineers to increase their overall earnings while developing their technical skills and experience.
For the right person, there's also the opportunity to progress into a more senior or managerial position as the business continues to grow.
If you're a hands-on engineer who enjoys fault-finding, doesn't mind getting stuck in, and likes the idea of travelling across the UK and Europe, we'd love to hear from you.
