About the role
Handle Professional Indemnity insurance for an established portfolio of solicitors, working across both an in-house insurance facility and the open market. This is a great opportunity for a PI Account Handler who enjoys the technical side of broking, wants exposure to larger and more complex risks, and values having different placement options available.
You'll be joining an established insurance broking business with a strong presence in the professional risks market. The role is predominantly desk-based, although there are opportunities to meet clients face-to-face. Flexible working is available, with typically two to three days per week in the office or attending client meetings.
The opportunity
This is a specialist Professional Indemnity Account Handler position, working with law firms on their insurance requirements, renewals and ongoing servicing.
- Specialist solicitors' PI: Handle Professional Indemnity insurance for law firms, with individual policy premiums reaching £250,000.
- In-house and open market broking: Access an established in-house facility alongside the wider insurance market, allowing you to explore suitable placement options for clients.
- Technical broking: Manage renewals, prepare submissions, negotiate with insurers and ensure clients receive appropriate coverage and competitive terms.
- Client relationships: Work closely with solicitors and law firms, dealing with their insurance requirements and providing a high standard of service.
- Varied responsibilities: Handle policy adjustments, documentation, insurer queries and the day-to-day administration of Professional Indemnity accounts.
- Client-facing opportunities: Although primarily desk-based, you'll have opportunities to attend client meetings and develop relationships beyond telephone and email contact.
Who would suit it?
This opportunity would suit an experienced Professional Indemnity Account Handler who enjoys technical broking and wants to develop their expertise within a specialist environment.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Experience handling Professional Indemnity insurance within a commercial insurance brokerage.
- Knowledge of solicitors' Professional Indemnity insurance, including renewals, coverage requirements and insurer negotiations.
- Experience working with insurers on open market placements, with an understanding of how specialist facilities operate.
- The ability to manage multiple renewals, maintain accurate documentation and deliver a reliable service to clients.
- Confidence communicating with clients and insurers, including discussing more complex insurance requirements.
You don't need to be a salesperson. This is a servicing and broking position, with the emphasis on technical knowledge, client relationships and finding suitable insurance solutions.
The package
- Basic salary: £35,000–£40,000, depending on experience.
- Hybrid working: Typically two to three days per week in the office, with client visits counting towards office attendance.
- Flexible working: A practical approach to managing your working week.
- Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays.

This could be a good move for a Professional Indemnity Account Handler who wants to work with larger solicitors' risks, gain exposure to both facility and open market broking, and enjoy a flexible working environment.
