Reporting to the Finance Manager and Finance Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, customer billing and account reconciliations.
You will work closely with colleagues, customers and suppliers to maintain accurate financial records, resolve queries and support the overall efficiency of the Finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase Ledger: Process purchase invoices, staff expenses and company credit card transactions accurately and in line with procedures.
- Supplier Accounts: Complete supplier statement reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and resolve outstanding invoice queries.
- Sales Ledger and Billing: Prepare and process customer sales invoices, manage routine billing activities, including ATI claims, and calculate and process storage charges.
- Credit Control: Monitor outstanding customer balances, chase overdue payments and assist with customer account reconciliations.
- Financial Administration: Manage the shared Accounts mailbox, respond to enquiries and maintain accurate financial records.
- Month-End Support: Assist with reconciliations, journal preparation and routine financial reporting, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify discrepancies and suggest improvements to existing financial and administrative processes.
- General Finance Support: Provide administrative assistance to the wider Finance team and undertake additional duties as required.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, approachable and takes pride in producing accurate work. You will be confident managing your workload, communicating effectively and working collaboratively with others.
Requirements for the role:
- Previous experience in a finance assistant, accounts or similar role.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management and problem-solving abilities.
- A positive, professional and flexible approach to work.
- The ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- A proactive attitude and a willingness to identify opportunities for improvement.
The ideal candidate will be a team player who can work independently when required, prioritise tasks effectively and maintain a high standard of accuracy. You will be comfortable handling financial information, investigating discrepancies and supporting the team during busy periods.
Flexibility, initiative and a commitment to providing excellent customer service are essential.
