Purchasing Manager

Our client is a growing manufacturing business supplying specialist gasket and flange solutions to customers across the energy sector. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to build and develop a robust procurement function capable of supporting future business growth. This is a key requirement of the role: applicants must have previous experience implementing or significantly transforming procurement systems, processes and supplier frameworks. This opportunity is ideally suited to someone who has established purchasing and procurement best practice within a growing SME rather than operated solely within an already mature procurement function. The Role Reporting directly to senior management, you will take ownership of procurement activities across the business and play a key role in developing a scalable supply chain strategy. Key responsibilities include: Designing and implementing procurement systems, processes and procedures from the ground upCreating supplier approval, evaluation and performance management frameworksDeveloping procurement governance, controls and reporting structuresNegotiating commercial agreements, pricing and supplier contractsManaging supplier price increases and identifying cost reduction opportunitiesWorking closely with production, operations and engineering teams to ensure continuity of supplyEstablishing procurement KPIs and performance metricsManaging and developing a Purchasing AssistantSupporting business growth through strategic supplier relationship managementEssential Experience Proven experience establishing, implementing or significantly improving a purchasing or procurement function within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environmentDemonstrable track record developing procurement systems, policies and processes from a greenfield or low–maturity positionStrong experience managing supplier relationships and commercial negotiationsAbility to challenge costs and deliver measurable value through procurement initiativesPrevious experience managing or mentoring junior team membersStrong commercial, analytical and stakeholder management skillsWhat's On Offer Opportunity to shape and lead the procurement functionHigh level of autonomy and influence within the businessVisible role within a growing and ambitious SMELong–term career development opportunities IND–SCOT
