Gardener for care home – part time We are looking for a friendly, knowledgeable and practical part-time gardener to maintain and care for the grounds at our residential care home. Our garden is a vital space for our residents, offering them a peaceful environment to relax and spend time outdoors. We need someone who genuinely understands how to keep lawns, beds, shrubs, hanging baskets and seasonal plants healthy and vibrant. Key Responsibilities Lawn Care: Mowing, neat edging, seasonal feeding, and managing weeds to keep the lawn healthy and presentable. Maintenance: Pruning shrubs, deadheading flowers, weeding, keeping borders and baskets presentable. General Upkeep: Keeping pathways, seating areas and patios safe and clear of leaves, moss or debris, keeping fences in good order, adhering to health and safety in care homes and other related legislation. Basic Infrastructure: Checking and watering raised beds, planters, and pots as required and occasional light maintenance. What We Are Looking For You must know about plants and grass care (e.g., when and how to prune basic shrubs, how to treat lawn issues, and seasonal planting needs). Confident in using and maintaining standard garden machinery safely (mower, strimmer, shear). Comfortable working in a care setting. You may be occasionally in a position to interact with elderly residents or staff, therefore a warm, friendly and patient attitude is essential. Able to work independently and manage your weekly hours efficiently. Working with the directors and manager as required. Previous experience in garden maintenance and knowledge of plants would be beneficial. Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS (criminal record) check and work references.
