Financial Systems Manager

Sowena group are delighted to be exclusively supporting a high growth, entrepreneurial group of companies in their search for a Financial Systems Manager. The Financial Systems Manager will lead and deliver a portfolio of finance systems projects and improvements on an interim basis, ensuring the successful optimisation and integration of finance technology solutions.

The role will provide specialist expertise and project leadership to support finance transformation, improve financial processes, strengthen controls and enhance the quality and efficiency of financial reporting. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver measurable outcomes within agreed project timelines, budgets and scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and redesign finance processes.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Standardise processes and reporting across finance teams and business units where appropriate.
• Deliver improvements in data quality, reporting accuracy and management information.
• Establish clear measures of success and demonstrate the benefits achieved through project delivery.
• Work closely with the senior leadership team, business users and project teams.
• Manage relationships with software vendors and external consultants.
• Facilitate workshops, gather requirements and agree project priorities.
• Communicate progress, risks and decisions to senior stakeholders.
• Provide specialist advice and challenge existing processes constructively.
• Ensure finance systems changes maintain appropriate financial controls, security and audit trails.
• Support data integrity, reconciliation and control assurance throughout implementation.

Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience delivering finance systems projects in an interim, contract or project-based capacity.
• Strong understanding of finance processes, accounting principles and financial controls.
• Demonstrable experience of finance system implementation, upgrades, migrations or transformation.
• Experience managing end-to-end project delivery, including requirements gathering, testing, implementation and handover.
• Ability to engage effectively with senior finance stakeholders, IT teams and external suppliers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• A track record of delivering tangible improvements within challenging deadlines.
• Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
