About the role
RF Engineer
We are working with one of Europe's major defence companies, specialising in the design, development and manufacture of missile systems and related defence technology. They are looking to hire an RF Engineer to join the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) team. This role offers the chance to work with world-class test equipment in a technically challenging, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
The position will require you to be on site 4 days per week, with 1 day working from home.
About the team
The HWIL team performs highly realistic missile testing without conducting a live firing. Complex, real-time simulations are designed around physical missile hardware, allowing the team to replicate operational scenarios and effectively "fire missiles indoors".
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain new and existing RF equipment.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams across RF engineering, electronics and software development.
- Develop new capabilities that enable the HWIL team to run advanced simulations.
- Support the integration of RF hardware, electronic systems and software.
- Investigate and resolve interface, integration and system-performance issues.
- Adapt to new and complex engineering situations.
- Analyse simulations and missile behaviour by identifying and abstracting the most important technical details.
Skills and experience
- Radio-frequency design and testing.
- System-performance analysis.
- Interface debugging and system integration.
- Hardware and software design requirements.
- System design for real-time applications.
- Linux operating systems.
- Computer science or software development knowledge.
- C++ programming experience, which would be advantageous.
- Integration of microcontrollers or single-board computers into RF hardware, such as Raspberry Pi
