At Tarmac, safety is more than a priority, it's at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a passionate and influential Regional HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental performance across our South East operations.
This is a high-profile leadership role with responsibility for shaping and driving the regional HSE agenda across a diverse and complex operational landscape, including quarries, contracting operations, construction projects, maintenance activities and mobile operational teams. You'll play a pivotal role in creating safe, sustainable workplaces while influencing business performance, supporting operational excellence and driving continuous improvement.
Reporting to the HSEQ Director, you'll lead a team of Regional HSE Advisors and work closely with senior operational leaders to embed a culture where safety, accountability and environmental stewardship remain central to every decision.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery of HSE performance across the South East region, ensuring standards, systems and procedures are effectively implemented

- Leading risk-based assurance programmes across high-risk activities including quarrying, construction, contracting, maintenance and project operations
- Using performance data, incident trends and risk intelligence to identify priorities and target interventions where they will have the greatest impact
- Leading investigations into significant incidents, ensuring lessons learned are embedded across the business and corrective actions are effectively delivered
- Providing expert advice, coaching and constructive challenge to operational leaders while promoting strong ownership of HSE performance
- Leading, developing and motivating a team of Regional HSE Advisors, ensuring resources are aligned to business priorities and operational risk
- Building strong relationships with regulators, industry bodies and key stakeholders while representing Tarmac externally when required
- Supporting environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and the continual development of HSE management systems and standards
- Managing regional HSE budgets, reporting performance metrics and ensuring improvement programmes deliver measurable outcomes

We're seeking an experienced HSE professional with the credibility, leadership skills and strategic mindset to influence at all levels of the organisation and drive lasting change.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience in a senior or manager-level HSE role within a high-risk operational environment
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental management systems, governance, assurance and compliance
- Experience working across sectors such as quarrying, construction, contracting, maintenance, infrastructure or related industries
- Strong knowledge of the Quarries Regulations 1999 and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
- A proven track record of leading HSE performance improvement initiatives and embedding a positive safety culture
- Experience leading investigations and translating findings into meaningful organisational learning and improvement
