Finance Manager

Finance Manager Heywood, Greater Manchester GBP34, Hours per week Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a varied, hands-on role with flexibility across the week? Baldwin Technical Services is looking for a Finance Manager to join the business on a maternity cover contract, starting as soon as possible and running until approximately February 2028. What you'll be doing You'll take responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the business, covering everything from management accounts and payroll to cash flow, project costing and financial administration. Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and P&L analysis. Managing project finances, including job costing, WIP, staged billing and individual project profitability through Simpro. Overseeing banking activities - payments, VAT returns, sales ledger, credit control and cash collection. Managing payroll, pensions, CIS reporting and associated personnel records. Ensuring relevant statutory requirements are met. Supporting contractual and commercial administration, including reviewing customer orders, quotations and project costs. Working with the Group Finance Manager, overseeing the Office Manager, and supporting wider financial administration operations and purchasing documentation, to ensure the financial information is accurate. What you'll need We're looking for someone with broad accounting experience who is comfortable managing the financial responsibilities of a busy, project-based business. You'll need to be organised, confident working independently and able to communicate financial information clearly to colleagues and management. At least 5 years' relevant finance/accounting experience, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, construction or a project-based business. AAT qualified or equivalent, with chartered qualifications advantageous. Strong experience in management accounts, financial reporting, cash flow forecasting and WIP. Good knowledge of job costing, payroll, banking, credit control and general financial administration. Strong Excel and accounting software skills, with Xero and Simpro experience advantageous. Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently. Previous staff management experience would be beneficial, alongside a full UK driving licence.
