About the role
I am recruiting for my client, an established company operating within the renewable energy and power generation sector, who is looking for an Engineering Technician to join their Northwest team.
The successful candidate will travel directly from home to sites, carrying out servicing, planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs on gas engines and associated electrical generating equipment. The service area is regional, with travel further afield and overnight stays only required occasionally.
My client welcomes applications from candidates coming directly from the Armed Forces, particularly those with a mechanical engineering background and electrical maintenance experience. Full initial and ongoing equipment training will be provided, with technical support available from the wider engineering team.
Engineering Technician Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned servicing, maintenance and repairs on gas engines, generators and associated mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify faults, responding to breakdowns to minimise equipment downtime.
- Support Operations Technicians during servicing and provide guidance on routine maintenance and fault finding.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of equipment.
- Maintain accurate service records, order spare parts and monitor stock levels.
- Join the emergency call out rota following training, currently one week in six.
Engineering Technician Requirements:
- A mechanical engineering background with electrical experience.
- Practical experience carrying out servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs.
- Previous experience with engines, generators or CHP equipment would be advantageous.
- Ability to work independently, organise your workload and seek technical support when required.
- Flexibility to work overtime, participate in the call out rota and undertake very occasional overnight stays.
- IT literacy and a full UK driving licence.
Engineering Technician Benefits:
- Basic annual salary of £41,131, with OTE circa £50,000 including additional payments.
- 40 hour working week with overtime payable.
- Call out rota payments.
- Additional payments for relevant certifications, advertised at £3,500 and increasing up to £5,250 with experience.
- Annual company performance related bonus scheme.
- Full initial and ongoing training, including support for candidates transitioning from the Armed Forces.
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
- Birthday leave and two additional days of annual leave after three years of service.
- Option to buy or sell up to five days of annual leave.
- Pension scheme with 5.5% employer contributions.
- Death in service cover of four times annual salary.
- Subsidised private healthcare and health cash schemes.
- Employee assistance programme and employee discount scheme.
