Operations Assistant

Location: Coventry Salary: £35,000-£40,000 per annumOur client is a specialist manufacturing business producing precision metal components for the construction industry. Due to continued development and a focus on improving operational efficiency, they are looking to recruit an Operations Assistant to support the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a manufacturing or engineering background to develop their operational management skills while contributing to production improvements and future automation projects.OverviewSupport the Operations Manager with the day-to-day running of manufacturing and production operations.Help coordinate production activities to ensure output targets, quality standards and delivery schedules are achieved.Monitor production performance, identify areas for improvement and assist with implementing more efficient working practices.Work closely with production teams, engineering staff and warehouse personnel to maintain smooth operations.Assist with troubleshooting production issues and coordinating solutions to minimise downtime.Support the introduction of new processes, machinery and automation initiatives to improve productivity.Help oversee the operation of multi-stage presses, automated equipment and robotic packing systems, with training provided where required.Assist with resource planning, workflow management and the allocation of tasks across the production team.Ensure health and safety procedures, quality requirements and company processes are consistently followed.Maintain accurate production records, operational reports and relevant documentation.Help manage stock levels, material movements and finished goods through to warehousing and dispatch.Work alongside the Operations Manager to develop the site, improve staffing levels and establish more effective operational procedures.RequirementsPrevious experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial production environment.Understanding of production processes, machinery and the importance of maintaining efficient workflows.Strong organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate tasks and support multiple areas of the operation.A practical, hands-on approach to resolving production issues and improving processes.Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production teams and management.Experience monitoring production performance, maintaining records or supporting operational planning.An interest in continuous improvement, manufacturing efficiency and developing new ways of working.Exposure to automated machinery, robotics, presses or mechanical production equipment would be advantageous.Experience supporting a Production Manager, Operations Manager or similar would be beneficial.A proactive attitude, with the ambition to develop into a more senior operational position over time.Salary & BenefitsSalary of £35,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience.Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm; Friday, 8:00am-2:30pm.Opportunity to join an established specialist manufacturing business.Work closely with the Operations Manager and gain valuable operational management experience.Involvement in future production improvements and automation projects.Opportunity to develop skills and progress as the business continues to grow.
