Sports Coach

Location: Central Bristol

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm

We are working with a primary school in Central Bristol who are looking for an active, sporty Teaching Assistant to work mostly 1-1 with a child in KS2. The school has found that the energy and attitude of a sports coach works really well with the children’s behaviour, so a coaching background would be a great fit for this role.

The Role:

• Providing dedicated 1-1 support to a KS2 pupil for most of the school day
• Building a strong, trusting and positive relationship with the child
• Supporting the child to access classroom learning and stay engaged with activities
• Using a positive, motivating approach to encourage good behaviour and choices
• Helping with transitions, daily routines and tasks throughout the school day
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
• Supporting social skills, communication and emotional regulation
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress

We Are Looking For:

• Experience working with children in a school setting (essential)
• A sports coaching background or a genuinely sporty, active personality
• Experience supporting children with SEN or behavioural needs is desirable
• An energetic, upbeat and motivating approach
• A calm, patient and consistent manner
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Reliability, professionalism and a commitment to safeguarding
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
