About the role
Behavioural Support Assistant Wanted - SEN School in Gainsborough - Academics
Are you patient, resilient and passionate about supporting children with additional needs? We are looking for a dedicated Behavioural Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Gainsborough, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Role
As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils manage their emotions, develop positive behaviours and engage with learning in a safe and supportive environment.
You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement individual behaviour support strategies, build positive relationships with pupils and encourage emotional regulation, confidence and independence. The role may involve supporting children who display challenging behaviour, helping them navigate difficult situations and providing calm, consistent guidance when they become dysregulated.
You will also help maintain a structured and nurturing classroom environment, recognise potential triggers, encourage positive choices and support pupils in developing essential social and communication skills.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, patient, empathetic and confident in managing challenging situations. Strong communication skills, resilience and the ability to build trust with children are essential.
Previous experience in a school is beneficial but not always essential. We welcome applicants with transferable skills from other sectors, including care, mental health support, residential care, youth work, support work or other roles involving behaviour management and supporting vulnerable individuals.
Most importantly, you should have a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
What We Offer
We offer competitive rates of pay depending on experience, the opportunity to gain valuable experience within a specialist SEN setting, and the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children who need additional support.
Temporary - long term role with the potential of permanent for the right applicant.
Important: Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.
Interested? Apply today! If you are ready for a rewarding role where patience, understanding and consistency can make a real difference, we would love to hear from you.
Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
