Payroll Team Leader

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working in partnership with our client, a leading organisation based in Doncaster, in their search for an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join the business on a 18-month fixed-term contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled payroll professional with strong leadership capability to take ownership of a busy payroll function, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of multiple payrolls, while driving process improvements and supporting system developments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the timely and accurate execution of all payrolls and ensure completion of all associated payments
• Manage, motivate and support the day-to-day operations of the payroll team, allocating resources effectively
• Lead, train and develop a team of administrators responsible for weekly and monthly payrolls
• Ensure full compliance with all PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and pension legislation
• Identify and drive process improvements and automation initiatives
• Take responsibility for system upgrades, testing and implementation
• Support the Group Payroll Manager with ad hoc tasks and projects as required

Experience and Qualifications:

• Proven experience leading or supervising a payroll team within a fast-paced environment (ideally retail or manufacturing)
• Minimum 5 years’ payroll experience
• Excellent working knowledge of statutory payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, pensions etc.)
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills
• Demonstrable integrity and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
• CIPP qualification highly desirable
