Financial Accountant (CAPEX)

Finance Accountant (CapEx & Fixed Assets)
A well-established and growing organisation is seeking a technically strong Finance Accountant to join its finance team in a newly created/critical role focused on Capital Expenditure (Capex) accounting and Fixed Assets.
This position will suit a qualified or part-qualified accountant with previous experience managing fixed asset accounting, capital projects and associated financial reporting. The successful individual will play a key role in ensuring the accurate accounting, forecasting and reporting of significant CapEx spend across the business.
Key Responsibilities

• Ownership and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register.
• Managing CapEx accounting processes, ensuring expenditure is accurately recorded and capitalised.
• Preparing month-end journals, accruals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Producing detailed balance sheet reconciliations relating to fixed assets, WIP and CapEx.
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities for capital expenditure.
• Providing insightful analysis and commentary on CapEx performance, variances and trends.
• Assisting with statutory reporting requirements and year-end audit processes.
• Working closely with operational stakeholders to ensure projects are accurately tracked and reported.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial controls, reporting and processes.

About You

• Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in Fixed Assets and/or CapEx Accounting is essential.
• Strong understanding of capitalisation policies, depreciation, WIP accounting and asset life cycle management.
• Experience preparing journals, reconciliations and month-end reporting.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information clearly.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
• Experience using ERP systems would be advantageous.
