About the role
Talent Learning & Development Manager
An opportunity to build, shape and influence how a growing, technology-led business develops its people. This role is a standalone role within a wider HR team and requires someone who has worked in a similar environment.
We are working with an ambitious organisation looking to appoint an experienced Talent & Development Manager into a newly created role.
Working closely with the Head of HR in a small, collaborative team, you will have the autonomy to shape the talent and development agenda, establishing the frameworks, programmes and processes that support performance, progression and future organisational capability.
This opportunity will appeal to someone who enjoys understanding how a business operates, identifying capability gaps and turning those insights into practical, sustainable solutions.
In this very varied and fast paced role you should:
- Develop and implement a talent and development strategy aligned to business priorities.
- Design and embed competency frameworks, skills matrices and career development pathways across different functions.
- Establish and enhance performance development, talent review and succession planning processes.
- Partner with leaders to identify skills gaps, assess future capability requirements and develop targeted solutions.
- Design and deliver leadership and management development programmes.
- Lead training needs analysis, translating findings into structured, blended learning initiatives.
- Oversee apprenticeship programmes, external providers and learning resources.
- Develop and maintain learning systems, reporting and evaluation to measure effectiveness.
- Coach and influence managers, embedding a culture of continuous development and accountability.
Applicants will be an experienced Talent, Learning & Development or Organisational Development professional who combines strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on approach. You will have:
- Experience developing and implementing talent or L&D strategies, ideally within an evolving organisation.
- Strong knowledge of competency frameworks, performance development and succession planning.
- The ability to identify organisational capability gaps and create meaningful development solutions.
- Experience designing and delivering leadership and management development programmes.
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels, influencing and constructively challenging where appropriate.
- A collaborative, adaptable approach and the ability to thrive in a small team where you take ownership from initial concept through to implementation and delivery.
- Experience of learning systems, apprenticeships and external training providers.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact in a newly created position, rather than inherit an established function. You will work closely with senior leadership, have the freedom to shape how talent and capability are developed, and see the direct impact of your work across the business.
