About the role
HR Officer – Interim (3–6 Months)
Bath - £31,647 – £42,219
Well Placed HR are delighted to be working with a well-established and highly respected organisation within the education sector to recruit an Interim HR Officer. This is a great opportunity for an experienced HR professional to step into a varied, hands-on role within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment in Bath.
Offered on a full-time, initial 3–6 month period, this is a stand-alone HR Officer position where you’ll work closely with senior leadership to help ensure the smooth running of HR across the school. With a headcount of around 250, the role offers plenty of variety and the opportunity to make a real contribution from day one.
Key duties will include:
- Acting as a first point of contact for HR queries, providing guidance on policies and procedures
- Providing HR administration across the employee lifecycle, including induction and probation
- Supporting end-to-end recruitment, including onboarding and pre-employment checks
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR system data, ensuring compliance with data protection requirements
- Supporting payroll processes by preparing and submitting accurate employee information and changes
- Assisting with absence management, including monitoring, reporting and supporting managers
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure an efficient and responsive HR service
This role would suit someone with:
- CIPD Level 3 qualification or equivalent practical experience
- Previous experience in an HR or HR administration role
- Experience within an education setting would be beneficial, but is not essential
- A good understanding of HR processes and compliance requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
- A proactive, flexible approach and the confidence to work independently
This Interim HR Officer opportunity would suit someone who enjoys a varied role and can hit the ground running. You’ll play an important part in supporting the school’s day-to-day HR operations, providing a reliable service to staff and managers throughout the 3–6 month assignment.
Please note: Applicants must have previous experience in a stand-alone HR role, ideally based within a school and must be able to hit the ground running.
The role offers a competitive salary, alongside the opportunity to gain valuable experience within a respected education setting and make a positive impact during your interim contract.
