About the Role

You will be instrumental in maintaining and expanding critical software and systems within our client’s advanced data collection lab, ensuring peak efficiency, accuracy, and reliability. What You’ll Do

Develop sophisticated software to interact with and control cutting-edge prototype wearable devices.
Enhance the overall efficiency, reliability, and accuracy of the data collection process.
Build controllers for advanced devices and manage the intricate data streams they generate.
Work with diverse recording equipment for audio, video, inertial measurements, and other modalities.
Deploy, test, and rigorously evaluate upgrades to a distributed data collection platform.
Design and maintain robust systems for continuous monitoring of system health.
Enhance tooling for comprehensive validation and post-processing of collected data.
Perform onsite debugging and root cause analyses to swiftly resolve complex technical challenges.
Collaborate closely with fellow engineers to triage issues, design innovative solutions, and estimate project scope.
Champion and promote best practices across a dynamic community of engineers and researchers.
Enhance the command and control web interface for optimal user experience.
Contribute to the configuration and reconfiguration of the data collection system.

What You’ll Bring
Must-Have Qualifications:

BS Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
Solid years of professional programming experience in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in working with large-scale projects using Python.
Strong proficiency in Linux environments and shell scripting.
Proven skills in maintaining and improving complex network infrastructures.
Experience with cross-platform distributed (RESTful) and concurrent systems.
Hands-on experience with FastAPI, or similar backend frameworks in Python.
Working knowledge of time-synchronization principles and applications.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

Experience working with hardware multimedia sensors.
Working knowledge of various audio, image, and video formats.
Experience with relational and graph/NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with software and hardware testing frameworks and strategies.
Working knowledge of React, or similar frontend frameworks in JavaScript.
Experience with systems administration on Windows.
