Bring fresh ideas to learning across Devon
Curriculum Officer – Learn Devon
Are you a natural connector who can turn insight, relationships and great ideas into learning that changes lives?
Learn Devon is looking for an energetic and professionally credible Curriculum Officer to lead and develop a high-quality curriculum area for adults and communities across the county. You will bring tutors, learners, employers and partners together, using local intelligence, subject expertise and fresh thinking to create learning that is inclusive, relevant and responsive.
This is a hands-on management role for someone who enjoys making things happen. You will lead, support and develop tutors and learning support staff, build strong community and employer relationships, and keep a clear focus on quality, performance and positive outcomes for learners.
What you’ll be doing
- Plan and manage an innovative curriculum that responds to the needs of Devon’s residents, communities and employers.
- Lead, motivate and develop tutors and support staff working both online and in communities across a dispersed county.
- Work closely with a number of Awarding Bodies evidencing high quality provision from Entry level to Level 4 courses.
- Use performance information, learner feedback and local intelligence to improve participation, retention, achievement and progression.
- Champion excellent teaching, learning and assessment, including robust RARPA, assessment and internal quality assurance practice.
- Build productive partnerships across Devon County Council and with employers, community organisations, colleges, training providers and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure provision meets funding, awarding organisation and regulatory requirements, with safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity and inclusion embedded throughout.
- Manage priorities, resources and delivery so that learning remains high quality, financially responsible and focused on impact.
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Build trust quickly and bring people together around a shared purpose.
- Can lead and support teaching professionals with clarity, credibility and enthusiasm.
- See possibilities where others see challenges and can turn ideas into practical action.
- Understand adult and community learning, curriculum development and quality improvement.
- Use evidence and data confidently to make decisions and improve performance.
- Care deeply about inclusive learning and removing barriers for adults across Devon.
- Can balance creativity and innovation with the professional standards, compliance and accountability expected of a management role.
Why join Learn Devon?
You will have the opportunity to shape learning that reflects Devon’s diverse communities and economic priorities, while helping talented colleagues deliver experiences that build confidence, skills and progression. It is a varied role with real scope to influence how we reach learners, respond to local need and demonstrate the difference adult learning makes.
