Behaviour Mentor

Kings Heath, Birmingham | Part-Time | Monday to Friday | 8:30am-1:00pm | ASAP Start

We are looking for a confident, resilient and compassionate Behaviour Learning Mentor to join a welcoming school in Kings Heath, Birmingham, providing dedicated support to a Year 6 pupil with challenging behaviour.

This is a part-time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am-1:00pm, starting ASAP and continuing for the full academic year.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with challenging behaviour, SEMH, SEND, youth work or behaviour intervention and will be calm, consistent and able to build positive relationships. This role would suit an experienced Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or Sports Coach with excellent behaviour-management skills.

The role:

• Provide 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil throughout the school morning
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
• Support with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in learning
• Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
• Encourage positive choices, routines and social interactions
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional needs
• Is calm, patient, firm and consistent
• Can remain resilient when faced with challenging situations
• Has strong behaviour management and communication skills
• Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-1:00pm
Start: ASAP
Duration: Full academic year
