Depot Operations Manager

Are you an experienced Site Operations Manager looking for an opportunity to take ownership of a busy depot within a successful, growing international business?

We’re recruiting for a Depot Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of an established recycling facility in Birmingham. This is a varied, hands-on management role with responsibility for a team of 25 production, drivers and admin teams.

You’ll be joining a well-established global recycling organisation offering long-term stability, excellent benefits and genuine opportunities for career development.

Applicants must hold a WAMITAB qualification and/or a Transport Manager CPC.

Salary & Benefits

• £42,000 – £45,000
• Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm (flexible)
• No weekends

The Role

Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the smooth, safe and efficient running of the depot, ensuring operational targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of compliance and customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and motivating the production, transport, drivers and administration teams
• Overseeing the daily movement, processing and dispatch of recyclable materials
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and transport regulations
• Managing operational performance, productivity and resource planning
• Developing and maintaining a positive safety culture across the depot
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, processes and site performance
• Ensuring employees are appropriately trained and working to established procedures
• Supporting the General Manager with continuous improvement and operational development

What We’re Looking For

• Previous operational management experience within waste management, recycling or a closely related industry
• WAMITAB qualification and/or Transport Manager CPC – essential
• Experience managing depot operations, ideally including paper and other recyclable materials
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety and operational compliance
• Confident people management and leadership skills
• A proactive, practical approach with the ability to solve problems and improve processes
• Good communication, organisational and planning skills
• Experience with SAP or Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) would be advantageous
