PK Education are recruiting enthusiastic PE Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in Barnsley and the surrounding areas from January 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for sports coaches, Sports Science graduates, experienced Cover Supervisors and aspiring PE Teachers looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

You don’t need to be a qualified teacher!

As a PE Cover Supervisor, you’ll supervise pre-planned PE lessons when the usual teacher is absent. Depending on the school’s requirements, this may include practical sports sessions, classroom-based PE theory or general classroom cover.

The Role

• Supervising PE lessons across KS3 and KS4

• Supporting practical activities including football, basketball, athletics and other sports

• Delivering instructions for pre-planned lessons

• Encouraging participation, teamwork and positive behaviour

• Ensuring students follow health and safety procedures during practical activities

• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining school expectations

• Providing general classroom cover when required

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience coaching, teaching or supporting young people

• Confidence leading groups of secondary-aged students

• A good understanding of sport and physical education

• Strong behaviour management and communication skills

• Enthusiastic, reliable and adaptable

• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
