Veritas Education is working in partnership with a well-respected secondary school in Bradford to recruit an experienced and committed Head of Year for a full-time, long-term position starting from October Half Term 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong pastoral professional to lead and support a designated year group, ensuring students achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance, enhancing student wellbeing, and maintaining high standards across the year group.

• Lead the pastoral care and development of a designated year group
• Monitor and support student attendance, behaviour, punctuality, and wellbeing
• Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and staff
• Work closely with senior leaders, safeguarding teams, and teaching staff
• Identify and support students who may be facing barriers to learning
• Manage behaviour incidents and coordinate appropriate interventions
• Lead assemblies, reward systems, and year group initiatives
• Attend parental meetings and communicate effectively with families
• Maintain accurate pastoral records and reports
• Liaise with external agencies where appropriate

• Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, or student support role
• Experience working with secondary-age students
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people
• Resilient, proactive, and solution-focused approach
• Passionate about improving outcomes for students
