About the role
Technical Product Owner - £725 Outside - 6 Months - Glasgow (Hybrid)
Lorien is supporting a key public sector client in the recruitment of an experienced Technical Product Owner to provide technical leadership, product ownership and delivery capability across a critical cloud-based platform supporting long-term legislative and business needs. The successful candidate will work closely with technical, operational and business stakeholders, providing ownership of platform strategy, roadmap, prioritisation and continuous improvement within an established delivery team.
Title: Technical Product Owner
Duration: 6 months initial (extensions possible up to 23 months)
Location: Glasgow (primarily remote with occasional onsite attendance required)
Rate: Up to £725 per day
IR35: Outside IR35
Essential Skills, Competences, Experience and Relevant Qualifications
* Proven Technical Product Owner / Platform Product Manager experience within cloud-first environments.
* Strong AWS knowledge including EKS, Infrastructure as Code, cloud-native architectures and platform services.
* Experience with Terraform/Terragrunt, Helm, Git, ArgoCD and modern CI/CD pipelines.
* Good understanding of Kubernetes, microservices and platform engineering practices.
* Experience working with AWS RDS, Aurora, MySQL or MariaDB.
* Knowledge of cloud security and governance standards including NCSC, NIST, OWASP and CIS.
* Ability to read, understand and challenge technical designs, architecture decisions and code/scripted solutions.
* Experience with Bash and/or Python scripting.
* Proven ownership of product strategy, roadmap, backlog prioritisation and delivery outcomes.
* Experience supporting, improving and operating business-critical platforms and services.
* Strong problem management experience, identifying root causes and driving long-term resolutions.
* Data-driven approach to product decisions, prioritisation and service improvement.
* Strong stakeholder management skills across engineering, architecture, operations and business teams.
* Experience working within Agile delivery teams and product-led environments.
* Ability to provide leadership, direction and technical ownership while supporting multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
* Public sector experience.
* Experience operating within governance, assurance or architecture review forums.
* Knowledge of government digital delivery standards.
* Experience supporting highly available cloud platforms in regulated environments.
