Role



This Graduate Building Surveyor role based in Birmingham provides an excellent foundation for an ambitious surveying professional looking to develop their technical expertise and progress towards Chartered status.



Working alongside experienced Building Surveyors and Project Managers, you will support the delivery of professional surveying instructions, project work and client advisory services across a varied commercial property portfolio.

The role offers exposure to both professional and project-focused Building Surveying services, providing valuable experience across all key competency areas required for APC progression.





Responsibilities



As a Graduate Building Surveyor based in Birmingham, your key responsibilities will include:

Assisting with building surveys, inspections and technical due diligence instructions
Supporting the preparation of schedules of condition, dilapidations and party wall matters
Assisting with defect diagnosis and technical reporting
Supporting project management and contract administration duties
Assisting in the delivery of refurbishment, fit-out and maintenance projects
Preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
Attending client meetings, site visits and project progress meetings
Coordinating with contractors, consultants and wider project teams
Supporting compliance and statutory obligation assessments
Assisting with cost control, project monitoring and reporting activities
Maintaining accurate project documentation and survey records
Working towards APC competencies and MRICS qualification with structured support and mentoring


Person



To be successful as a Graduate Building Surveyor in Birmingham, you will align with our requirements and bring:

A degree in Building Surveying or a closely related discipline
APC ambition with a desire to achieve MRICS status
Strong interest in commercial property and Building Consultancy services
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and time management abilities
A proactive and professional approach to work
Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
The ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
Previous industry placement or Building Surveying experience would be advantageous
Full UK driving licence or working towards obtaining one
Project Management experience alongside Building Surveying expertise would be highly desirable
