A fantastic specialist school in Reading is looking for a Mental Health Support Assistant to join their team. The role is to start ASAP!
You'll be working with primary and secondary-aged students who need additional support with their social, emotional and mental health, as well as learning needs that can make the classroom environment challenging.
This is a brilliant opportunity to gain hands-on experience working directly with young people and develop skills that could be invaluable for your future career.
What will you be doing?
You'll work with students 1:1 and in small groups, providing targeted support and interventions to help them feel more confident, engaged and ready to learn.
Your day could include:
- Building positive and supportive relationships with students.
- Helping young people develop strategies to manage their emotions.
- Supporting students with their confidence, communication and social skills.
- Delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions.
- Helping students overcome barriers to learning.
- Supporting students to develop positive routines and engage with education.
You'll gain an insight into how schools support young people with different needs, develop your communication and behaviour-support skills, and learn how targeted interventions can help students overcome barriers to learning.
