EH60 – Mechanical Technician Salary: GBP38,940 – GBP48,675 Location: Gloucester Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Mechanical Technician on behalf of one of our clients. You will be responsible for the performance and maintenance of mechanical equipment across the site, including materials handling conveyors, boiler plant, steam turbine, generator and ancillary equipment Our client encourages applications from ex–military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration. Duties and Responsibilities: Completing routine maintenance tasks on time and recording them within the plant s maintenance management systemPrioritising and completing emergent work in a timely mannerAssisting the Mechanical Engineer with reviewing, updating and modifying plant maintenance plansAssisting with the development of work scopes and supervising contractors during the plant s annual outageManaging plant improvement projects from evaluation through to implementationMaintaining equipment as directed by the Mechanical Engineer and reporting any defects or incorrect operationInvestigating and rectifying mechanical faults to minimise plant downtimeAssisting with statutory inspections and ensuring relevant documentation is completed and kept up to dateCoordinating mechanical maintenance activities and supporting other disciplines during planned and unplanned shutdownsAssisting with the training and mentoring of apprenticesSupporting plant operations on a 24/7 basis by attending call–outs and working overtime when required Skills and Qualifications: Extensive maintenance experience within the power generation sector, including Energy from Waste, CCGT, Oil, Coal or Biomass, or experience as a time–served Armed Forces engineerExperience of working within demanding and dynamic environmentsKnowledge of relevant facility consents, health and safety legislation, safe working environments, safety rules and outagesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at different levelsAdaptable and flexible approach to workHighly motivated, results–oriented and drivenAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamComputer literateStrong analytical and decision–making skills with the ability to prioritise workload
