Ocean Freight Operator Location: Exeter Salary: Up to 35,000 An established global logistics company is looking for an experienced Ocean Freight Operator to join its growing Exeter team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and highly respected freight forwarding business that has operated successfully for many years. The company has a strong global presence, more than 10 locations across the UK and continued plans for growth. The role can focus on ocean imports, exports or a combination of both, depending on your experience. The Role: Manage ocean import and export shipments from booking through to final delivery Handle FCL and LCL shipments Liaise with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers and internal departments Prepare and check shipping documentation Arrange collections, deliveries and container movements Monitor shipments and provide customers with regular updates Handle quotations, costings and supplier rates Support customs clearance by ensuring the correct documentation is available Resolve operational problems, delays and documentation discrepancies Ensure files are accurately costed, invoiced and closed Maintain a high standard of customer service throughout the shipment process The Candidate: Previous ocean freight forwarding experience Experience in ocean imports, exports or both Understanding of FCL and LCL processes Strong customer service and communication skills Confident working with shipping lines, hauliers and overseas agents Organised and able to manage multiple shipments and deadlines Good attention to detail when handling documentation and costs Comfortable working independently and as part of a team Package and Benefits: Salary up to 35,000, depending on experience 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays Private healthcare Company pension Additional company benefits Long–term career development opportunities Stable employer with more than 10 UK locations International network and global presence Opportunity to join a growing freight forwarding operation This position would suit an Ocean Import Operator, Ocean Export Operator, Ocean Freight Coordinator or Freight Forwarder looking for a stable position with a successful international logistics company.
