Dispatch & Transport Manager

Our Client has shown continued growth over the years and as they continue to expand they are now looking to strengthen their Management team and seek a highly organised and experienced Dispatch & Transport Manager for their North East site. As the Dispatch & Transport Manager you will be accountable for the service and delivery to all their customer base throughout the UK. This is a very exciting opportunity for an individual that can demonstrate expertise in their field. The successful candidate will be empowered to make decisions across two key business areas that are key in delivering customer satisfaction. Reporting to the General Manager you will be responsible for the picking, packing and distribution of goods to customers all over the UK. What you will be doing:

• Routing vehicles and deliveries across the UK
• Overseeing the packing and picking of customer orders
• Ensuring overall fleet compliance in-line with VOSA regulations, insurance requirements and maintenance schedules
• Responsibility for drivers' hours, rotas and holidays and managing any HR processes
• Plan and coordinate the dispatch of customer orders on time according to the daily schedule
• Ensure customer orders are delivered on time and in full, liaising with customer services and production where necessary
• Motivate, organise and encourage teamwork to ensure productivity targets are met
• Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the workplace
• Reporting and recording vehicle defects highlighted by drivers, including ensuring appropriate remedies are sought
• Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times and transport costs
• Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics issues and customer issues
• Review impact of logistics changes, such as routing, product volumes or carriers
• Be able to cover driver absence where necessary

About you:

• Experience in transport operations, goods out and stock control of teams exceeding 10 plus direct reports
• Essential prior transport planning experience
• Previous experience in a similar role within FMCG Food Manufacturing would be an advantage
• Competent PC user with good knowledge of Excel
• Proven track record in chilled transport
• HGV licence
• FLT licence
