About the role
Ark is a charity that aims to transform children’s lives through education. In the UK, the strongest predictor of how a child will do at school continues to be what their parents do for a living – but why should this be the accepted status quo? By working in our network at one of our 39 schools, you will be directly making a positive impact on young people’s lives through high-quality teaching that sensitively considers all children’s backgrounds and needs; making educational equity a reality. Location: Skinners Kent Academy, Tunbridge Wells, Kent Subjects: Science, Computing or Maths Funding Available: Up to £31,000 Programme Start Date: September 2026, with a 2-week summer school from 3rd to 14th August. The Skinners’ Kent Academy The Skinners’ Kent Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school for children aged 11-18 with around 1,100 students currently on its role. Located in Tunbridge Wells, the Academy is a non-selective school in a local authority that operates a selective system. The Academy is part of the Skinners’ Academies Trust who are supported by The Skinners’ Company, one of the 12 great livery companies in the City of London. The Academy is founded on the principles of a culture of high standards and high aspirations, a culture of active participation, an emotionally rich learning environment and an inclusive environment where every child is known and every learner supported. We seek to make learning exciting and celebrate our innovative and distinctly internationally-focused curriculum which sets us apart from many other schools. About Ark Teacher Training Ark Teacher Training (ATT) is a school-based programme offering the perfect mixture of theory and classroom practice to develop you into the best teacher you can be. Because we believe that every child, regardless of their background, deserves to have access to a great education, we work mainly in communities of lower income with a history of academic underachievement. We are very proud to have received our second ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted in all categories! There are only a few ITTs in the UK that can say the same. Alongside this, our programme is also incredibly supportive and bespoke, as you will see below.
