Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Contract: Full time, permanent
An established specialist law firm is looking to appoint an Intermediate Track Fee Earner to join its growing Personal Injury team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PI fee earner looking to take ownership of their own caseload within a supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will handle a varied portfolio of intermediate-track personal injury claims, managing matters from inception through to settlement and ensuring a high standard of client care throughout.
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload of personal injury claims, predominantly involving road traffic accidents and other liability-based claims, with responsibility for progressing matters efficiently and achieving the best possible outcome for clients.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing a caseload of intermediate-track personal injury claims from inception through to conclusion.
Taking responsibility for all aspects of case progression, including liability, quantum, evidence and litigation.
Reviewing and assessing medical evidence and other supporting documentation.
Drafting pleadings, witness statements, schedules of loss and other relevant legal documentation.
Valuing claims and preparing cases for settlement.
Conducting negotiations with insurers and other third parties.
Instructing and liaising with medical and other experts where required.
Advising clients throughout the lifecycle of their claim and managing expectations effectively.
Ensuring files are progressed in accordance with relevant procedural requirements and deadlines.
Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with internal processes and quality standards.
Working towards individual and team performance targets.
We are looking for someone with solid experience handling personal injury claims, ideally with exposure to the Intermediate Track and a good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience as a PI Fee Earner, Litigation Executive, Solicitor or equivalent.
Experience managing your own caseload with a good level of autonomy.
Strong knowledge of personal injury litigation and relevant procedural requirements.
Experience dealing with liability, quantum, medical evidence and settlement negotiations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
A client-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
The ability to work effectively within a team while taking ownership of your own workload.
The role would suit someone who is comfortable working within a high-volume PI environment, but who also wants genuine ownership of their caseload and the opportunity to develop their litigation expertise.
Competitive salary based on experience.
Hybrid working.
Supportive and collaborative team environment.
Opportunity to take ownership of a varied PI caseload.
Ongoing professional development and career progression.
Opportunity to develop your experience within a specialist legal environment.
