Personal Assistant

Job Title: Personal Assistant (Female)* Location: Muirend, Glasgow Pay: £14ph+ for 8 hours per week (average) or sessional work also available. I'm currently looking for staff for every Monday evening (3pm-8pm) and every other Saturday (12pm-6pm). If some of this would be suitable but you wouldn't manage all the full 8 hours please do get in touch as there is flexibility. Hourly rate is currently under review with a view to an increase. Hi, my name is Jo. I am in my 30s and live in my own flat, just round the corner from my mum and dad. My family are really important to me but I am really excited about living on my own and building a new and independent life just for me. I am recruiting new team members to support me live my best life. I have a qualification in childcare and a sessional job at a children’s activity centre. I’m also passionate about campaigning for the rights of people with disabilities and raising money for causes I believe in. In terms of hobbies, I love singing, swimming hiking and keeping fit. I also really enjoy photography and am quite good at it. I love going on weekends away and day trips to explore new places. I also love my flat and making it my own in style and decor. I love babysitting for wee nephew and telling others about all of his adventures! People who know and love me describe me as kind, caring, passionate and intelligent. THINGS I NEED SUPPORT WITH I have a cerebral visual impairment (CVI) which means that I can’t see very well. I also have a mild learning disability which means I sometimes struggle to understand complicated language or social situations. I can also struggle with my mental health. JOB DESCRIPTION You would work with me to help me to build my new life by encouraging me to try new things and attend different social events and activities. I would particularly like to learn new skills and develop new friendships and relationships. I would like to become more confident and increase my independence. I also need support with shopping, cooking, navigating technology, attending NHS appointments, and minor personal care. Some of my staff are also part of a rota to provide evening support phone calls. If you were interested in this you would be invited to join the rota and would earn £20ph for these calls (each call is 30 minutes). PERSON SPECIFICATION Good communication skills Empathic and understanding Outgoing, friendly and adaptable Committed to the rights and best interests of people with disabilities Understands the implications low mental health for day-to-day living Good mobility – I live at the top of 2 flights of stairs and also sometimes need support to take part in fitness classes. Not afraid of or allergic to pets – I have 1 cat and regularly visit my parents with their 2 (non-allergenic) dogs. Willing to undertake any training to understand how to support me better. Committed to supporting me for a sustained period (more than just a few months) so that I can develop strong, trusting relationships with my team. I do understand, however, that people’s circumstances can change. A driving licence and access to a car would be desirable. A member of the PVG Scheme or willing to become one (this is now a legal requirement). You would have to have the right to work in the UK and satisfactory references.
