PreCon Talent are assisting an established main contractor with the appointment of an experienced Senior Estimator to join their pre-construction team based in Derby.

This is a hybrid position offering a salary of up to £95,000 plus benefits, working across a diverse portfolio of construction projects including residential developments, commercial schemes, education, public sector projects, regeneration and sustainable construction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage the estimating and tender process for construction projects from initial enquiry through to final submission
• Review drawings, specifications, tender documentation and employer’s requirements to establish project scope and pricing strategy
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, tender returns and pricing schedules
• Manage subcontractor and supplier enquiries, analyse quotations and ensure strong market coverage across relevant packages
• Undertake detailed measurement and take-offs where required
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions throughout the tender process
• Work closely with pre-construction, commercial, design and operational teams to develop competitive and deliverable tender submissions
• Attend internal tender reviews, client meetings and tender interviews where required
• Liaise with design teams and consultants to review buildability, construction methodology and alternative solutions
• Prepare comprehensive handover information for successfully secured projects
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and the wider project team

THE INDIVIDUAL:

• Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within the main contracting sector
• Strong knowledge of the Midlands construction market and associated subcontractor supply chain
• Experience pricing a diverse range of construction projects across sectors such as commercial, residential, education and the public sector
• Strong understanding of construction methodology, subcontractor packages and current market pricing
• Confident managing tenders independently from initial enquiry through to final submission and handover
• Excellent numerical, analytical and commercial skills with strong attention to detail
• Experience working with traditional and design and build procurement routes
• Able to build effective relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams
• Highly organised and comfortable operating within a busy pre-construction environment
• Comfortable working within a hybrid arrangement, with regular attendance at the Derby office
