About the role
Location: On-site (Blyth, United Kingdom)
Position Type: Full-time
About Our Client
Our client is Europe's premier dedicated data centre delivery partner, providing full turnkey solutions from initial design through to construction and commissioning. Headquartered in Dublin and recognized as a trusted leader across the continent, they are currently expanding their footprint with major hyperscale data centre projects in Blyth, United Kingdom.
These advanced facilities feature intricate, high-capacity electrical infrastructure-including medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) distribution networks, massive backup diesel generator farms, continuous uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and complex life-safety systems. To guarantee that every installation meets the strictest technical tolerances and regulatory codes, our client is seeking an electrically biased QA/QC Engineer to join their on-site team.
Role Overview
Based full-time on-site in Blyth, you will take direct ownership of driving the quality assurance and quality control of all electrical systems and installations. Working alongside the Construction Manager, Project Manager, and wider Quality Team, you will ensure that every phase of electrical construction strictly complies with rigorous project specifications, engineering drawings, and international data centre standards.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Inspection & Surveillance: Monitor and inspect all electrical installation works-including MV/LV switchgear, transformers, busbars, cable containment, power distribution units (PDUs), and earthing systems-to ensure absolute compliance with project specifications and industry regulations.
QA/QC Frameworks: Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures dedicated strictly to electrical packages.
Technical Submissions & ITPs: Review, verify, and manage method statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), electrical testing logs, and quality documentation submitted by electrical subcontractors.
Auditing & Compliance: Carry out rigorous on-site inspections, quality audits, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), issuing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and tracking them to prompt resolution where required.
Technical Problem Solving: Support the electrical engineering team in troubleshooting quality issues, offering technical advice, and verifying that robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented.
Material & Workmanship Verification: Ensure that all incoming electrical plant, cables, panels, and specialized hardware are inspected, pre-commissioning tested, certified, and properly documented prior to installation.
Documentation & Dossier Management: Maintain meticulous, up-to-date records of all electrical inspections, dielectric test results, continuity checks, and quality documentation to feed into project tracking systems.
Project Handover & Close-Out: Play a pivotal role in electrical completion and project handover activities, ensuring seamless compilation of quality dossiers, Integrated System Testing (IST) records, and O&M manuals.
What We Are Looking For
Educational Background: Relevant bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related construction discipline.
Industry Experience: Proven track record as a QA/QC Engineer on large-scale, complex construction projects, ideally within mission-critical environments such as hyperscale data centres, heavy industrial plants, or advanced technology facilities.
Electrical Technical Mastery: Deep familiarity with MV/LV distribution systems, protection relay schemes, cable management standards, earthing networks, and high-voltage safety rules.
Systems & Documentation: Exceptional proficiency in developing and executing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), managing QA documentation, and tracking NCR workflows.
Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the authority and tact to challenge subcontractor workmanship and drive a zero-defect electrical culture on-site.
Why Join?
Pioneering Projects: Leave your stamp on some of the largest sustainable digital infrastructure developments in Blyth, UK.
Career Advancement: Accelerate your career with a market leader experiencing rapid, sustained European growth.
Reward Package: Enjoy a competitive salary package within a collaborative, fast-paced technical environment.
