SC Cleared Full Stack AI Engineer (Contract)
Outside IR35:£500-£560
Fully Remote
Immediate Start
This is an opportunity to work on high-impact AI applications within the defence and national security space. You will build full-stack AI prototypes and production-ready applications, working across LLMs, RAG, data, APIs and infrastructure in a highly secure environment.
The Company
They are a specialist organisation delivering advanced science, technology and AI capabilities within the UK defence sector. Their work focuses on applying emerging technology to complex, mission-critical challenges. They partner with specialist technology suppliers to develop secure AI solutions and applications. Due to the nature of the project, security clearance is an important requirement.
The Role and Deliverables
- Design and build full-stack AI applications across front-end, back-end, API and infrastructure layers.
- Develop solutions using Python, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
- Build prototypes and progress AI solutions towards production-ready applications.
- Develop applications leveraging Large Language Models, RAG, vector databases, semantic search and knowledge graphs.
- Design data models across SQL and NoSQL technologies and contribute to application architecture.
- Deploy and operate LLM-based solutions within secure, air-gapped environments.
Your Skills & Experience
- Strong full-stack AI engineering capability, covering both front-end and back-end development.
- Strong Python and TypeScript skills, alongside HTML and CSS.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation and production AI applications.
- Experience with SQL, NoSQL, data modelling and API architecture.
- Knowledge of vector databases, semantic search and knowledge graphs.
- Cloud engineering experience, ideally with GCP, although AWS experience is also relevant.
- Experience with Docker and infrastructure supporting AI applications.
- Active SC clearance is highly desirable. Lapsed SC clearance may also be considered, subject to the project’s security requirements and BPSS checks.
